In telling the story of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, this moving and acclaimed documentary explores the different U.S. and international communities that have been touched by the epidemic, participating in what has been called the world's largest folk art project. Beginning in the 1980s and stretching into the present day, as the AIDS epidemic continues to affect pockets of the African American community in the South, THE LAST ONE gives a human face to an ever-growing quilt. The film's title is, all by itself, a hopeful belief that soon the last one of these panels be added marking the end of a crisis that has already crippled so many.
