General Questions

When is the festival?

Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival will be held April 16-20, 2021.

What is Outfest Now?

Outfest Now is the video and streaming platform hosting the festival film screenings. When you purchase individual tickets through the Festival website, you will receive a confirmation email from Outfest Now with the subject line: “Here’s your order of FILM NAME”. You will also receive an activation email that will take you to view the films from your streaming library.

Will there be filmmaker Q&As?

There will be virtual Q&As with filmmakers for select screenings. Check the film program for details on Q&As for specific films. The Q&A will start after the film has ended. Filmmaker Q&As will also be made available for free on OutfestNow.com.

When can I start watching films?

All online films in the festival are available to stream starting April 16-20, 2021, beginning at 7am PT on April 16. In most cases, once you hit ‘PLAY’ you will have 72 hours to complete the film before your watch window closes. Drive-in screenings will occur on April 17-18 at Exposition Park, buy tickets to the drive-in HERE.

How do I buy tickets?

Visit our FILM GUIDE to purchase individual tickets. A limited amount of All-Access Passes are available to purchase for $99. The All-Access pass includes all ONLINE features and shorts programs, it does not include drive-in screenings. Purchase the all-access pass HERE.

Will virtual screenings sell out?

There are a limited number of digital tickets available to purchase for feature films. Shorts programs do not have a capacity. Please reserve your tickets early to ensure access.

I'm an Outfest member, how do I claim my free ticket benefits?

Outfest members have been sent an email from the membership team to claim their free ticket benefits. Members must fill out a form with their free selections, after your order has been processed you’ll see the films added to your “products” in your library on the Outfest Now platform. If you did not receive the Member Ticket form or have questions please contact membership@outfest.org.

I purchased my tickets, now what do I do?

You will have received a confirmation email of your purchase(s) from Outfest Now. If you purchased your ticket(s) before the festival your confirmation will say that “you will be notified when the film is available”. Then, look out for a Virtual Access email on April 16 that will take you to stream your selections.

If you purchased your ticket(s) during the festival (April 16-20), your confirmation email will have a link to start watching the film that you purchased.

Are refunds or exchanges available?

There are no refunds or exchanges.

Does my Outfest Now yearly or monthly subscription gain me access to the Outfest Fusion program for free?

No. Outfest Fusion films are sold separately from the Outfest Now subscription. You may purchase individual films or an All-Access pass for the festival and the films will be added to your Outfest Now account.

Streaming Questions

How will I gain access to watch the films I bought tickets for?

ALL films will be made available to watch starting April 16 – April 20 and you will receive an Access email at the email address used to purchase your ticket(s). If the screening is already available to watch, you will be presented with a link on the order confirmation email immediately after purchase to start watching.

Upon clicking the button to start watching, you will have 72 hours to complete the film.

On which devices can I watch the films?

There are several methods to watch films on your devices:

ON YOUR TV

  • Download the “Outfest Now” app for Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, AndroidTV, or Chromecast, sign in, and begin watching from “Your Library”.
  • Cast from a computer or Android phone/tablet using the Chrome browser to a Chromecast device.
  • AirPlay from a computer, iPhone or iPad to an AppleTV (Gen 2 and above) or to any Smart TV bearing the “AirPlay” badge.

ON YOUR SMARTPHONE OR TABLET

  • Download the “Outfest Now” app for iPhone, iPad, Android, or Google Play. Sign in, and begin watching from “Your Library”.

ON YOUR COMPUTER

  • Go to OutfestNow.com and login from any of the SUPPORTED BROWSERS to begin watching. On your computer go to “Account Settings”, from there you will see the tab “Purchases” where the films you purchased for Outfest Fusion will live.

You can also watch films on the OUTFEST NOW app on Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, AndroidTV, Apple App Store, Google Play, Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and on iPhones and iPads using Safari.

Is closed captioning available?

We have a number of films with either closed or open captioning. Captions are indicated on the film player with CC for closed captioning.

Closed captions can be turned on or off while streaming the film. To turn them on, select English (CC) in the subtitle window at the bottom right corner of the video player.

Open captions can’t be turned off.

Why is my video playback slow?

We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on wifi, try moving closer to your router.

If you purchased your ticket(s) during the festival (April 16-20), your confirmation email will have a link to start watching the film that you purchased.

What is a watch window and how long do I have to watch?

A watch window is how long you have to watch a film once you hit ‘PLAY’

Online films have 72 hour watch windows when you receive access to the films and hit PLAY. 

Can I watch films Internationally?

You can watch most films from anywhere in the world, but a select few are geo-blocked and limited to the United States. The restrictions are noted on each page of the film’s pages, where applicable.

These restrictions were set by the rights holders. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to request special access to them.

Do you have free events?

Yes!

We’re hosting conversations with filmmakers, and free pre-recorded & live panels on OutfestFusion.com.

If you’re financially unable to purchase film or workshop tickets Outfest Fusion is by and for the community, fill out this form HERE to apply for a financial hardship festival pass. We typically get back to applications within 24 hours.

Will you be hosting other social events to chat with filmmakers?

Yes! We’re working on scheduling some virtual discussion groups and social meet-ups on Zoom and Clubhouse. Keep an eye out on our website and social media for more details.
