For 35 years, the Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival has been both a family gathering for the community, and a launchpad for queer films and filmmakers.
Since 1982 we’ve curated the year’s best LGBT cinema for your viewing pleasure. And year after year you have thrown your support behind us, validating our purpose as a mirror and a megaphone for the queer identity.
Thank you for enabling us to do what we do. By showing up each year, you’ve empowered us to grow from a weekend-long festival on the UCLA campus, to 11 days in theatres across Los Angeles showing 194 films from 30 countries.
As always, the content we showcase raises the bar when it comes to trans, bi, lesbian and gay inclusivity and visibility. From the sexual fluidity in the characters of Strangers, 195 Lewis, City of The Future and Body Electric, to the gender non-conforming themes in Saturday Church, Freak Show and A Womb Of Their Own, this year’s lineup illustrates the changing demographic of today’s LGBT landscape.
Join us at our epic Opening Night Gala where we will watch a new LGBT film make its mark on cinema history, celebrate a queer icon, and toast to another 35 years of progress.
And remember, you can rely on Outfest to be there for you every July, and throughout the year, creating opportunities for connection and reflection by highlighting the accomplishments of the past year, and reminding us of what more needs to be done in order to achieve true equality for us all.
We look forward to seeing you throughout the 11 days of the festival. We promise it will feel like coming home!
