Director Statement

I have friends kept secret for more than 10 years. In the decade they make their voice to the world: "we are a gay choir and we are happy". This serenade has been flatly refused by Korean society, but my old friends G-Voice gather around every weekend. At least while singing together, they can dream. They sing to fight and to reconcile with the harsh reality surrounding us. Singing in a gay choir means having to expose one's identity as a sexual minority as well as confronting the prejudices and discrimination. Even if we are not accepted any easier than it did during the last decade and in the next ten years to come, my friends will still voice up for the bravest confession. As a director and as a friend, I wanted to document the consistent challenges of G-Voice and the bare faces of the prejudices widespread in today's Korean society. Through this film, I hope to deliver not only suffering but also joy of my friends' journey.
