TV Comedy's Come a Long Way, Baby!

If the cumulative effect of “Ellen,” “Modern Family” and “Glee” has been deeper acceptance of gays and lesbians (Vice President Biden says “Will & Grace” “did more to educate the American public than almost anything”), then the writers of those shows might be cultural pioneers. Come see a panel of TV's most accomplished gay and lesbian comedy writers discuss how we got from Billy Crystal's conflicted Jodie on 1977's “Soap” to “The New Normal,” and the delicate line between portraying role models and just being funny.

Moderated by Ari Karpel (The New York Times, The Advocate, KCRW).
