Directed By: Adaora Nwandu,
SCR: Adaora Nwandu, UK, Nigeria, 2006, video, 99 min.

Raymond (Rag) and Tagbo (Tag) met when they were eight. Despite being from radically different backgrounds they remain inseparable until the cusp of their teens, when Social Services take Rag from London to live with his grandmother in Birmingham. Rag and Tag reunite as young men and discover that their once-innocent desires have shifted into an urgent need to be together. A trip to Tag’s native Nigeria liberates their bond. After returning to London the couple must reconcile their newfound love with pressures from family and friends, the lure of easy money, the threat of petty crooks and the pervasive bigotry that envelops their lives. Propelled by an awesome hip hop score and powerfully realistic performances from its gifted stars, Adaora Nwandu’s debut feature is an intricate, lyrical film that interweaves beauty, love and darkness within a sometimes dangerous world. - DC
