LOGGERHEADS
DIR. Tim Kirkman, 2005, USA, 94 min.
Outfest veteran Tim Kirkman (DEAR JESSE, THE NIGHT LARRY KRAMER KISSED ME) returns with this hauntingly beautiful tale of love, loss and the longing for connection. Deftly interweaving three stories, each on Mother's Day weekend in different geographical regions of North Carolina, LOGGERHEADS is a complex cinematic tapestry. Mark (hunky and stunning Kip Pardue) is the gay drifter at the center of this triad. When he makes a pilgrimage to a small coastal town to save the endangered loggerhead turtles, Mark meets George, a sexy local motel owner. With George as his catalyst, Mark must choose whether to save himself as well. Grace (Bonnie Hunt) searches for the son she gave up for adoption when she was a teenager. Elizabeth (Tess Harper) struggles for the courage to stand up to her stern preacher husband over their estranged son. With an extraordinary cast that also includes Michael Learned, Michael Kelly and Chris Sarandon, this Sundance favorite is sure to touch your heart.

HARD PILL
DIR/SCR. John Baumgartner, 2005, USA, video, 95 min.
It's an insidious but intriguing question: if a pill could make a gay person straight, would it ever be worth taking? John Baumgartner's suspenseful debut feature explores this charged topic, turning in a highly original work of gay science fiction, and sketching a near future that is distressingly not inconceivable. Tim Barrens is a lonely gay man who's sick of dead ends. Doted on by women friends, spurned by other gay guys, and resorting to sex with a straight buddy, he's enlivened by news of clinical trials for a new pill that may change his sexuality, and perhaps (he hopes) improve his life. But can his friendships, his individuality and his very personhood survive this test? Baumgartner's taut screenplay and direction, fueled by a gifted cast, take on a chilling prospect, drawing provocative conclusions.

BOOM!
DIR: Joseph Losey, SCR: Tennessee Williams, 1968, USA, 35mm, 110 min.
BOOM! positively defines the word 'phantasmagoric.' Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton star in perhaps their strangest roles, that of super-rich recluse Sissy Goforth and wandering harbinger of death, Chris Flanders, sequestered in Goforth's exotic Mediterranean island home. Mind-blowing monologues on life, love, death, youth and growing old punctuated by eloquent purple prose adorn this campy legend. BOOM! is a thoroughly intoxicating carnival ride of the senses that is reportedly one of John Waters' favorite films. With Joanna Shimkus, Romolo Valli and a queenie Noel Coward as the 'Witch of Capri'.

A Launch Party for Fusion Film Festival & Logo's Noah's Arc Series
NOAH'S ARC
DIR. Patrik-Ian Polk, 2005, USA, video, 60 min.
We are proud to present the season premiere of a fresh new series produced by Logo, based on the NOAH'S ARC pilot from Outfest 2004. NOAH'S ARC explores the lives of four black gay men in Los Angeles - Noah, Alex, Ricky and Chance - as they navigate complex romantic and professional relationships. Noah is a struggling screenwriter embarking on a relationship with a newly 'out' man; Alex is an HIV/AIDS counselor struggling to overcome the seven-year relationship itch; Ricky is a trendy Melrose boutique owner who shuns commitment in favor of casual flings; and Chance is a college professor reluctant to commit to his new boyfriend, perhaps with good reason. Often described as a black gay 'Sex in the City,' NOAH'S ARC offers a refreshing look at gay life in the City of Angels- with a uniquely diverse twist.
