(1995)
Paris was a Woman is a film portrait of the creative community of women writers, artists, photographers and editors (Colette, Djuna Barnes and Gertrude Stein among others) who flocked to Paris in the early 20th century, when Paris was the undisputed cultural capital of the world. (1986)
International Sweethearts of Rhythm is the toe-tapping music film telling the story of the swinging, multi-racial, all-women 16-piece jazz band of the 1940s. A 16-piece band with a strong brass section, heavy percussion and a deep rhythmic sense, the Sweethearts featured many of the best female musicians of the day.

TINY & RUBY: HELL DIVIN' WOMEN
(1988)
Profiling legendary jazz trumpeter Tiny Davis and her partner of over 40 years, drummer-pianist Ruby Lucas, Tiny & Ruby: Hell Divin' Women weaves together rare jazz recordings, live performances, vintage photographs and narrative poetry by Cheryl Clarke. The film establishes an informal, intimate style in which 78-year-old Tiny demonstrates that her chops and humor are both quite intact and shows a glimpse of this African American lesbian couple's long life together making music in the heartland.
