Annual Sundance Event to Launch John Waters’ New Television Show “John Waters Presents Movies That Will Corrupt You”

LOS ANGELES – December 8, 2005 – here!, America’s First Gay Television Network, is the sole presenting sponsor of the 10th Annual Outfest Queer Brunch on Sunday, January 22nd at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. The 10th annual industry mixer has become the premiere gay and lesbian industry event during Sundance, and an event to celebrate gay and lesbian programming at the film festival. The launch of “John Waters Presents Movies That Will Corrupt You” will include the event’s first red carpet for celebrity arrivals.

This year here! Networks and Outfest have teamed up on this Sundance event to laud Outfest’s new Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation and launch independent film pioneer John Waters’ first foray into television with the program “John Waters Presents Movies That will Corrupt You.” The show is a film series that Waters curated featuring movies he feels “will disturb you in a delightful way.” “We’re going to push the envelope until we get paper cuts”, he jokes, “Seeing regular Hollywood motion pictures will be, hopefully, much harder for our viewers after seeing my extreme but joyous cinematic choices.” The thirteen wraparounds written by Waters for the series were shot in all thirteen rooms of Waters’ Baltimore home. The show is set to debut on here! Friday, February 3rd, 2006.

“Launching John Waters’ show at the annual Queer Brunch with Outfest is a perfect fit. For many of us, John is the Godfather of independent cinema. His presence at Sundance and at the Queer Brunch is sure to make for an exciting event,” said Paul Colichman, CEO and Founder of here!.

Outfest, presenter of the premiere LGBT film festival worldwide, recently launched The Legacy Project, the only film preservation program in the world devoted to addressing the crisis in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) film preservation. In partnership with the UCLA Film & Television Archive, Outfest’s Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation has established the largest publicly accessible collection of LGBT films in the world. In addition, Outfest and UCLA will collect film prints and other material for permanent preservation, strike new prints for widespread public exhibition, restore damaged films to their initial release forms and educate filmmakers and the general public about LGBT film and video preservation.

"Outfest is thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Queer Brunch at Sundance, the beloved and much-anticipated LGBT family gathering at the nation's premiere film festival. We're very excited to raise the event's profile this year by partnering with our friends at here! Networks, hosting indie film giant John Waters and shining a spotlight on our recently launched Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation," stated Stephen Gutwillig, Executive Director of Outfest.

The event will be held on Sunday, January 22nd from 11AM-2PM at the Grubsteak Restaurant and is open to press and industry professionals. FOR PRESS CREDENTIALS or VIP GUEST LIST RSVPs, please email jonathona@heretv.com or call 310-806-6382 NO LATER THAN Monday, January 16, 2006.
